Arans Mark Tabaruka Steps Down for Hon. Benedicto Rutemba as PFF Flag Bearer in Kinkizi East
Kinkizi East – September 10, 2025
In a major development for the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), Arans Mark Tabaruka has stepped down in favor of Hon. Benedicto Rutemba to carry the party flag in the 2026 general elections for Kinkizi East constituency.
The decision followed peaceful and constructive negotiations within the party aimed at ensuring unity and strategic alignment ahead of the polls. Party insiders revealed that both leaders engaged in high-level discussions, guided by senior officials, to determine the most suitable candidate to lead the revolutionary agenda in Kinkizi East.
Hon. Benedicto Rutemba welcomed the decision, describing it as a demonstration of sacrifice and maturity within the party.
> “This is not about individual ambition, but about the people of Kinkizi East and the future we want to build together. I commend my colleague, Arans Mark Tabaruka, for his statesmanship. Together, we shall work to deliver meaningful transformation for our constituency,” Rutemba stated.
In his remarks, Tabaruka emphasized that his withdrawal from the race was a strategic step to consolidate the party’s strength rather than a personal loss.
> “The revolution we believe in requires unity behind one strong candidate. I remain fully committed to supporting Hon. Rutemba and to ensuring that PFF secures victory in 2026,” he said.

The development has been widely interpreted as a boost to PFF’s electoral chances in Kinkizi East, with political observers noting that the move avoids internal divisions and projects the party as a unified front ahead of a competitive election season.
