Minister for ICT and national guidance

The Guest of Honour, Dr Chris Baryomunsi, Member of Parliament for Kinkizi East in Kanungu District, congratulated the graduates and their families for their resilience through years of academic pressure and personal sacrifice. Using a powerful metaphor, he described education as a furnace that refines character and skill.

> “Education is like a furnace—not everyone manages to pass through it. It is a place of pressure, sacrifice and endurance, but it produces refined minds and strong character. Today, you stand as proof that you endured the heat and came out ready to serve society,” the Minister said.

He urged parents and guardians to take pride in the achievement, noting that success at this level was the result of discipline, investment and faith.

> “Today is not only a victory for students, but also for parents and guardians who invested time, resources and prayers. This level is not reached by chance, and therefore it must be celebrated,” he added.

The Minister further challenged graduates to treat their qualifications as a national responsibility and to contribute meaningfully to digital transformation.

> “You are now part of a rare and skilled generation that must drive ICT and technology advancement in government, industry and communities. Your success must reflect in service to Uganda,” he emphasized.

Principal UICT Dr Fredrick E Kitogo

UICT Principal, Dr Fredrick E. Kitogo, congratulated the class of 2025 and encouraged them to uphold professionalism as ambassadors of the institute.

> “Be creative, innovative and committed to lifelong learning. Go out and apply what you have learned. Represent UICT with distinction in the world of practice,” he said.

Graduates expressed optimism about employment, entrepreneurship and further studies, citing practical training and exposure as key strengths of their programmes. Parents lauded the institution for shaping disciplined and competitive professionals.

As Uganda continues to invest in the digital economy, UICT reaffirmed its commitment to producing skilled, adaptable graduates capable of supporting e-government, innovation, private enterprise and community development through technology
